Bordering on awsome..

Today we left Coober Pedy, at about 8:30, and headed towards the South Australian/Northern Territory Border. We left behind the mullock heaps and ventured onto the vast (almost) empty plains of the outback (I went a little David Attenborough there)

The trip up the highway was uneventful, and by morning tea time we pulled into Cadney Park Homestead (and roadhouse). We had a cuppa and a break, I couldn’t resist parking the rig beside the road train that was parked there, all of a suddenly the van looks small.

After the break we headed towards Marla, arriving there at lunchtime. Marla among other things is the town at the top of the Oodnadatta Track. Marla consist of a roadhouse, and ambulance base, a police Station, and a scattering of houses. After a brief stop for a snack lunch, and a browse of the obligatory souvenirs, we again hit the road.

Shortly after leaving the Marla roadhouse we were caught and overtaken by the road train we saw at Cadney Park. It is surprising how quickly they can wind those things up to get around you.

We arrived at the border at about 3:00, a days travel of about 400km, quite far enough! We set up camp in a bush area right on the border.

Time to sit back, relax, have a cuppa, write the blog, (although there is no internet so you will have to wait until I can post it!) and take it easy for the night. Tomorrow we make our way to Uluru, Ayres Rock.
