One small step from the van.....

After a restful night, and a few beverages in front of the fire, we awoke to another beautiful day.

The highway is in very good condition, considering the amount of traffic, particularly the road trains, with their 3 large trailers.    Perhaps we could import some of their road builders, and get them to re-do the Glenelg?

We found a wayside stop for morning tea, I sent Bev off to get a bit of wood so I could boil the billy..............she's been gone a while.........

After smoko we continued on our way, we passed Lake Hart, a large, dry, salt lake, stopped for a sight-see.

By lunchtime we made it to another wayside stop, which have picnic tables and chairs, water and toilets.   We lunched in the van and took time to have a bit of a wander.   We were entertained by a large flock of finch's that had gathered for a drink.

We arrived at the moonscape that is Coober Pedy, mid - afternoon.   We are having 2 nights in a van park, gives a chance to refill water tanks, do the washing and the like.  Refuelled the car, diesel @ 157.9, and it just gets more expensive from here!   (But I'm not dragging the caravan by hand!)

Tomorrow we'll have a slack day around the town, we have had 3 long days driving, 1473k's so far.
